State of Missouri, Barbering Certification Requirements
You must be at least 17 years old with a 10th grade education or equivalent.
To become a cosmetology instructor, you must have your cosmetology license and 600 training hours.
You must renew your cosmetology license by September 30th of odd-numbered years. There is a $30 fee.
If you want to practice in Missouri and are from another state, your license must be from a state that has equal or greater licensing requirements. You must also have already practiced cosmetology for 2 years in a row in your home state.
There are no CEUs required.
Educational requirements for Missouri:
Cosmetologist – 1500 hours or 3000 apprenticeship hours Barber – 1000 hours Esthetician – 750 hours or 1500 apprenticeship hours Manicurist – 400 hours or 800 apprenticeship hours Instructor Training – 300 to 600 hours (depending on experience)
