State of Idaho, Nail Care Certification Requirements
You must be at least 16.5 years old with a 10th grade education or equivalent.
To be eligible to get your instructors license, you must have your cosmetology license plus 2 years of experience, plus 1000 student teaching hours. Or have your cosmetology license plus 2.5 years of experience with 500 student teaching hours.
Your must be licensed for the last 3 out of 5 years to qualify for endorsement. You must hold a valid and active license in a state with similar requirements, or complete those additional hours.

Cosmetology – 2000 hours or 4000 apprenticeship hours Electrologist – 500 hours, plus 300 skin care hours or 1600 apprenticeship hours Esthetics – 600 hours or 1200 apprenticeship hours Barber – Barber-stylist 1800 hours; Barber (no chemicals) 900 hours Nail Technology – 400 hours or 800 apprenticeship hours Instructor – 6 month teacher’s course; 3 month teacher’s course with two years licensed experience; 5 years licensed experience immediately preceding application for license
