State of Mississippi, Nail Care Certification Requirements
You must be at least 17 years old. You must be able to read, write, and speak English. You must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
To become a cosmetology instructor, you must have your cosmetology license, 12 board-approved college hours, 750 training hours with 2 years experience. Or, you must have 2,000 training hours with 2 years experience.
You must renew your cosmetology license every 2 years. There is a $50 fee.
If you want to practice in Mississippi and are from another state, then you need to submit an application along with an affidavit or certification of training that meets the requirements of the state of Mississippi. You also will need to appear for an eligibility interview.
Instructors must have 24 CEUs every 2 years.
Master cosmetologists must complete 16 CEUs every 2 years.
