At Denmark College we teach hands-on, skill-based cosmetology. Our students learn modern cosmetology techniques from experienced professionals. We teach students to become proficient in all aspects of hair care (cutting, design, coloring, braiding, extensions and sew-in weaves), skin care (lashes, waxing and facial makeup), nail care (manicures and pedicures) and salon management. We prepare students for the Indiana State Board of Cosmetology exam and to become the ultimate salon professional.

At Denmark College we teach traditional, skill based, barbering. This means that we do not put in lines that need to be removed later or use guards (as they are home hair care products, and NOT professional). Our barber school teaches the barber to use his or her tools and implements to their full potential. We rely upon skill as opposed to attachments and gimmick products. This is NOT a simple system to learn. It requires patience, practice, and the ability to deal with failure. We build each barbers’ dexterity so they can manipulate these implements to blend, fade, taper, and finish haircuts in a timely manner, without creating more work to be finished later. We work from the beginning of the haircut to the end, without retracing our steps. This involves working our haircut top to bottom, long to short, always blending from our last length into our next length.
